They wanted to build a damn, they said
It wouldn’t hurt anything, just a little water
A year later, an earthworm washed up on the new shore
Like nothing ever seen before, a new and unique species
‘Swimming’ through the old beaches, their only habitat
All of them drowned before they were even discovered
